ABOUT EMILY (she/her)
Emily is the proud founder and owner of Amped School of Music, a locally, woman, LGBTQ+, and neurodivergent-owned small business in Downtown Fargo, ND. She has been making music in many forms for nearly three decades and has taught music since she was a teenager, inspired by the dedicated teachers who shaped her own musical journey.

Music, art, and food are Emily's top three passions, and the threads of all three weave through everything she does, including Amped itself. Emily designed the Amped School of Music brand and logo herself and continues to handle all studio design, bringing her background in studio art and illustration directly into the heart of the studio's identity.

As a violinist, Emily served as co-concertmistress of the Fargo Moorhead Area Youth Symphony and section leader in the Concordia College Orchestra, a top auditioned ensemble that toured Europe and performed the PBS Christmas Concert national broadcast. She held concertmistress positions in the top auditioned orchestras at Moorhead High School, participated in the Minnesota All-State Orchestra and the Minnesota Middle Level Honors Orchestra, and received the audition-based Christiansen Scholarship Award at Concordia College for music performance.

A Concordia College Magna Cum Laude graduate, Emily earned her BA in Pre-Professional Studio Art with a Classical Studies Minor and deepened her creative studies at the Accademia Italiana in Florence, Italy. Emily was honored with the Presidential Scholarship, Concordia's most prestigious academic award, reflecting the same dedication and discipline she brings to music and art. She also received the Harts Scholarship for Excellence in Visual Arts and the Fargo Fine Arts Scholarship, and earned two Concordia Art Department Purchase Awards, meaning the college itself acquired her work for their permanent collection. One of her illustrations went viral online and sold hundreds of copies, launching her freelance illustration and graphic design career.

Emily's entrepreneurial spirit led her to found not just Amped, but also Lucid Bakery, a startup vegan bakery featured in Entrepreneur Magazine with the Fargo Startup House.

Emily believes music is an extraordinary way to have fun, build confidence, gain self-awareness, release expression, practice skill-building, and connect with others. She founded Amped to share exactly that with her community, and to build a space where any musician, at any stage, feels empowered, connected, and celebrated.
