
ABOUT KARA
Kara Brusven is currently a student studying a Commercial Music Major with a Minor in Audio Production at Minnesota State University Moorhead. She has taught private and group/ensemble piano and guitar lessons for a little over four years through the Pierre Music Store, with student ages ranging from five to sixty. She has been playing guitar for approximately ten years and piano for fourteen years. Her styles that she plays and teaches range from classical to jazz to contemporary/pop with an emphasis on a proper understanding of music theory, fundamental concepts of music, and proper musical technique.
PREVIOUS ENSEMBLES AND AWARDS
She has played in the Commercial, Jazz, and Guitar ensembles at MSUM and performed in a variety of genres throughout high school. Her playing experience consisted of solo performing, chamber groups, pit orchestras, jazz combos/ensembles, worship bands, rock bands, and accompaniment for vocalists and solo instrumentalists. She was also was the youngest member of the Pierre Area Keyboard Teachers Association and competed in various guitar, piano, and vocal competitions throughout South Dakota.
