ABOUT MARIAN (she/her)
Born and raised in Memphis, TN, Marian picked up the violin at age 5. She currently studies under violinist Victor Avila Luvsangenden and is pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, alongside an Orchestral Conducting certificate. She's grown a deep passion for both and plans to keep pursuing music beyond her undergraduate years.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT MUSIC?
The community building with other people is what I love about music. With people coming from many diverse backgrounds, music allows those people to come together and connect, and the best part is, a word to word conversation isn't needed. The emotional understanding gained with one another is such a unique experience a person can only receive through music.

NOTABLE ENSEMBLES & PERFORMANCES
Marian has been involved in orchestras and ensembles for as long as she can remember, placing excellently throughout WTSBOA and TMEA conventions across seven years of involvement. In early 2023, she won the Germantown Symphony Orchestra's Concerto Competition, along with other honorable mentions for her playing.

Her summer festival experience includes:

  • Round Top Festival Institute (Texas, 2025), holding section and principal positions
  • Lutheran Summer Music Academy (2024), serving as co-concertmaster under violinist Jonathan Ong (Verona Quartet)
  • Brevard Music Center (2022 & 2023), studying under violinists Tina Raimondi and Caroline Chin, sitting as assistant concertmaster and principal second of the Brevard Concert Orchestra
  • Sewanee Summer Music Festival (2021), under violinist Eva Cappelletti Chao
  • Monteux School and Music Festival (2026)

Marian has also formed and played in numerous chamber groups throughout her school and extracurricular career. Marian sat concertmaster of her high school orchestra and the Memphis Youth Symphony Orchestra, and has served as co-concertmaster of the Concordia Orchestra for two years while freelancing in the Fargo-Moorhead area. She recently earned a substitute violin position with the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony.

WHAT MARIAN DOES FOR FUN
When she's not playing, Marian loves going on runs and walks (especially outdoors), playing Tomodachi Life and Animal Crossing on her Switch, keeping up with Love Island on TikTok, experimenting with baking and cooking, and spending time with friends.
