ABOUT MICHAEL
Michael Thorsgaard started playing piano at the age of 7. He took lessons until he was 12 when he decided to start playing trumpet in the middle school band, jazz band and pep band. He continued this all the way through high school and into college. During this time he learned much about jazz and improvisation. Michael also played in a band in high school where he got a lot of good drumming and bass guitar experience and learned a lot about performing in a small group and having fun with music. Michael continued to expand his musical horizons at NDSCS where he studied for a liberal arts degree with an emphasis on music. He studied the piano for 2 years under the instruction of Laurie Lakang learning many classical piano pieces. Music has been a big part of Michael's life. He has never stopped playing piano and continues to study the piano to this day. Michael will bring a fun approach to learning the piano and looks forward to building and sharing many fond memories of music with you. WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT MUSIC?
