ABOUT PAXTON
Paxton Skinner was raised in Central/Southeastern Ohio and received her Bachelor’s Degree in 2021 from Ohio University. She is pursuing her Masters in Vocal Performance at North Dakota State University. At NDSU, Paxton serves as the Teaching Assistant for vocal pedagogy, diction, and the voice area. Her teaching career has included both private and group instruction in both Ohio and Salt Lake City, Utah. Her students have gone on to book professional theater jobs and enroll in collegiate music programs for both classical and contemporary music programs. Paxton has competed in many vocal competitions, both placing in her region and qualifying for nationals. In addition, she has performed principal roles in several collegiate opera productions. Paxton is also an avid swimmer and worked as a lifeguard and swim instructor for six years. It was while teaching swim lessons that she first learned about her passion for teaching, and she is always inspired to pursue that passion further. She and her husband, Luke, have a dog (Pippa) and a cat (Tommy) together. Her hobbies include playing card games, running, reading and collecting knick-knacks. WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT MUSIC? I love music because it is (in my humble opinion) the most vulnerable and moving form of self-expression. We use it not only to bond and create meaningful experiences for others, but we also use it to realize things within ourselves. It plays such a large role in who we are as people and impacts us in so many ways. CURRENT ENSEMBLES Fargo Moorhead Opera, NDSU Opera, & NDSU Concert Choir. WHAT ARE YOUR TOP 5 DESERT ISLAND ALBUMS?
WHAT DO YOU DO FOR FUN? I enjoy reading, running, swimming, thrifting, and collecting antique knick-knacks (particularly anything gnome, mushroom, or frog :D) I also am an avid card player! |
