Why teach at Amped School of Music?

Make a living

Our teachers earn more per hour making music than most jobs. Make a living hourly wage and get paid even more with our group lesson opportunities. We have consistent hours on weekday afternoons and nights so you can have mornings and weekends to live your life.

We'll handle it

Just show up and help people make music. We'll handle finding, booking, and billing your students so you can focus on teaching. We'll even have an online portal to help you keep track of your students, upcoming lessons, and take notes on attendance and repertoire if you need it.

Great experience

Give your students the best music learning experience with regular performance opportunities, masterclasses, group lessons, and social events to get even more involved with music. Teachers are welcome to show off their expertise with classes and events. Teachers get free wi-fi, copying, printing, lesson material storage, opportunities to connect, and more!

Teacher FAQs

What's the benefit of being part of a studio?
Making music can be an isolating art. Running a one-person teaching studio on your own just adds to the stress. Unexpected expenses, like professional-looking space rental, studio supplies, internet, insurance, recital venue rentals, and online tools add up. Not to mention the time and STRESS of handling marketing, taxes, student leads, signups, discontinuations, cancellations, questions, and management. Running your own teaching studio is running your own small business and wearing MANY hats.

Amped is an opportunity for teachers to do what they do best - teach! Not only do we take away the time and stress of managing a small business, we provide a community for musicians. Work with other teachers, collaborate on projects, and make more of an impact on our music community. We go farther together.

Can I afford the rent?
Our teachers never have to write us a check! We'll handle all expenses, including space rental, upkeep, heat, internet, insurance, security, the lesson portal, and more! You get paid for teaching while not having to worry about expenses for your teaching space!

How many hours and how am I paid?
You are paid as a W2 Employee once a month via check or direct deposit.  It is preferred that teachers are available to teach about 5 hours in a weeknight. Unless we are looking for an immediate position filled, schedules are gradually filled with students over time.

What about makeup lessons?
Teachers must find a substitute teacher in times that they cannot make their lessons. Teacher absences must be kept to a minimum to facilitate student growth and retention. If a student misses a lesson, you still get paid. As a courtesy to the student, you may send an emailed video lesson through our lesson service.

What are the students like?
We generally have students between the ages of 5-80. These are families that love music and the arts and self-progress. Connecting and having a friendly rapport with our students and families is important to us. Lessons range from one student and one teacher to 3-6 students and a teacher.

So this online portal, what can it do?
Lots! With the online portal, you can see your upcoming lessons, cancel lessons, take lesson notes, track attendance, add and track repertoires, downloadable media, and borrowed library items. Students can see their upcoming lessons, invoices, track practice time, see upcoming events, and receive studio news. The online portal is included with lessons and works on all devices.

Is there a waiting area for my students and parents?
Yes! We have a lobby with a receptionist, lots of seating, WiFi, coffee and tea, and sweet guitars on the wall, as we share space with Gruber Guitars. With COVID-19 safety, some services may be limited.

How big are the rooms and are they furnished?
We have rooms in varying sizes that fit individual to group lessons. The rooms are furnished with chairs, music stands, bookshelves, bluetooth and/or input-cable speakers, and practice amps. We have a permanent upright grand piano, TVs, desks, keyboards, a drum set, and practice pads in certain rooms. Contact us for a tour!

Where is parking?
Street parking is free for Sundays and Monday-Saturday after 5PM. The Roberts Commons parking ramp is less than a block north and offers free 2 hour parking, and free parking on weekends and after 5PM on weekdays. Check out this Fargo parking guide for more info.
